On proportion, and why rooms feel right
Ceiling height is only the beginning. The rooms we remember are measured in proportion — the distance between a window and the floor, the width of a hall, the pause before a stair turns.
We look for houses that leave room for thought. That is the standard we hold every brief to.
When a room feels right, it is rarely because of a single gesture. It is the quiet agreement between light, material, and the way a body moves through the plan. We notice when a corridor opens a breath too late, or when a sitting room holds the garden in the corner of your eye.
Proportion is not a formula we apply after the fact. It is the first question we ask of every house we represent.
